Well, i think it actually may be sometime next year, it depends.. If the tour dates they posted recently on their site, are the last few then they probably will get back to writing(Hell, they may already be writing on the road) and if they get it out fast enough(which i know albums take time) they might play Lollapalooza. I really hope they do play Lollapalooza, New album or not. Because I’m actually gonna try to go there and meet up with some internet friends.

30 Days of Music
Day 09: A song you like to fall asleep to.
1) “ONE”-Yeasayer.
This song is pretty much a perfect pop song. It’s amazingly well done. Not to mention the music video is just plain bizzare/trippy/awesomeness. Any song about a bad breakup is pretty fucking cliched but these guys have managed to nail it down and make it their own. With lyrics like “And it feels like being tranquilized/I know the separation kills the soul/But I won’t stop falling like rain drops/because I like it when you lose control” The guys in Yeasayer just P’wn any competition in the Indie-pop area. As for musicianship, the song is pretty simple: four chord progressions on most parts except for the bridge. But with all of the strange, watery sounding synthesizers and the almost vocoded, but not quite vocals, you forget about the fact that the progression is boring and realize that there’s a lot of versatility in the song.
2) “Roslyn”-Bon Iver and St. Vincent.
Okay normally I would completely ignore anything having to do with Twilight, but much to my disappointment, the soundtracks for the series are extremely good. Which makes me sad. Anyways, speaking of sad, this song is so mournful. Like, seriously. Bon Iver (as usual) put together a folk masterpiece for “New Moon” (FUCK.) With fuzzed out vocals echoing in the background, over a clanging, smoothly strummed guitar and dark sounding bass, Justin Vernon creates this soundscape that even Phil Spector would be pretty envious of. Long story short, it’s dark, it’s pretty, it’s Bon Iver (with Saint Vincent, but who really cares; Justin takes the glamour on this one.)
3) “Homecoming”-The Teenagers
This song is repetitive, vulgar, French and awesome. What else would you expect from French shlockstars, The Teenagers. With spoken verses (alternately from a dude and a chick) “Homecoming” tells the story of a guy from England who visits his stepsister in America (who coincidentally is a hot cheerleader) and then, surprise surprise, he FUCKS HER. You know what the chorus is? Male voice: “I fucked my american cunt”, Female voice: “I loved my english romance.” In the end this guy basically ditches her when he goes home. This song is awful, and vulgar, but it’s pretty fucking catchy.
4) “Transcontinental”-Pedro the Lion
Thudding drums, clear guitars, catchy chorus, awesome lyrics. This lo-fi song has it all pretty much. The story of a guy who gets his legs run over by a train and thinks about life as he’s watching the cars riding over his ruined legs over and over again, it’s pretty dark. And yet, it sounds so happy. But beneath the macabre and bloody lyrics is a really nice metaphor. In short, it’s all about getting rid of what you don’t need in your life, ridding yourself of the bad parts of you in order to free yourself. It’s a really happy song, regardless of harsh lyrics.
5) “Growing Old is Getting Old”-Silversun Pickups
Just the bass-line of this song by itself is awesome. Echoey vocals, delayed guitars, and rhythmic drums, makes it even better. It creates a sense of pure atmosphere as it slowly builds to a pulsing, hard, echoing song.
6) “Bloodbuzz, Ohio”-The National
The drums in this song are impeccable. There are literally no mistakes in rhythm, and the way in which they are recorded is just perfection. The guitar and vocals aren’t bad either…The lead singer’s voice is reminiscent of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis and yet the song is very, very complex (unlike Joy Division). The vocal part comes in at times on the downbeat, especially during the chorus, and often there are long pauses between syllables (I.E. “I’m on a Blood………..Buzz, yes I am, I’m on a Blood..Buzz”). Overall, “Bloodbuzz” is catchy, clanging, and amazing.
7) “Wolves (Song of the Shepherd’s Dog)”-Iron and Wine
Sam Beam can do no wrong in my eyes. He is a folk-rock god, and this song just ingrains that fact. It’s bizarre. With bongos, accordion, harmonica, quickly bowed violins, slide guitar, distorted electric guitars, deep bass, and quadruple layered vocals, “Wolves” is quite the departure from Sam’s general formula. However, it works. It works, really fucking well. (Note: as usual, the lyrics are perfect. Judging on who we’re talking about here, I didn’t really think I had to mention them.)
